Dr Derek Lok
MBChB (HK), PhD (Adelaide), FRANZCOG, CREI

Derek obtained his medical degree (MBChB) in Hong Kong in 1990. He subsequently undertook research in fetal medicine at the University of Adelaide where he was awarded his PhD. Derek completed his obstetric and gynaecological training in Sydney and Adelaide and obtained his FRANZCOG qualification in 2001. He received his subspecialised Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility training in Adelaide and the UK, and obtained his subspecialty qualification (CREI, RANZCOG) in 2002.

Derek expanded his experience in andrology, endoscopic and reproductive microsurgery, infertility and miscarriage management during two years overseas, mainly as a clinical fellow/lecturer at University of Sheffield, UK. During this period he also spent time in reproductive technology (ART) centres and endoscopic surgery units in Oxford, London, Paris, Germany, Montreal and Seoul, with part assistance of the travelling scholarship awarded by RANZCOG

Derek returned to Australia in 2004 to take up a VMO appointment at Liverpool Hospital and another Sydney IVF Clinic. Derek's major interests are in male factor infertility, endoscopic and reproductive microsurgery, different modalities of infertility treatments including preimplantation genetic diagnosis, and recurrent miscarriage management. Derek speaks fluent Cantonese and Mandarin.
