fostering first

Six years of fostering, it's time for us to start and try and have some children of our own. We had been trying for 11 months with no success. I had previously been diagnosed with polycystic ovaries.

My husband had a sperm test which sat on a counter at a pathology lab for up to 6 hours. This was frustrating as the test needed to be done again.

I was very upset when a friend called me aside and confided her innermost secret, that she and he husband were in the midst of their IVF cycle.

She gave me her doctors details and I saw her the next day. The doctor referred me to WFC . We saw a doctor within weeks and a number of tests were preformed.

I took tablets to bring on a period. It was decided to try OI/IUI. We were told in depth about the procedure, the statistics were also shared with us.

I had 13 days of injections, I had numerous blood tests. My levels were looking good one of the doctors preformed an ultra sound.

During the injections I became sick. It was put to me did I still want to continue with this cycle. We decided to continue.

At the ultrasound it showed two follicles. We were advised to discuss the possibility of twins. We once again decided to continue.

The inseminination was uncomfortable but not painful. Now it was the difficult task of waiting.

One week later had to have blood test to check if ovulation had occurred. It had success No 1

If no period within the next week a pregnancy test. No period ... time for a pregnancy test, the longest day in history.

2pm "Hi ... it's the nurse from WFC, your blood levels show you are pregnant. CONGRATULATIONS !"

Ultrasound will be done at 7 weeks ... this indicated we had been blessed with two babies. (Yes twins!) On 24.3.04 after a relatively easy pregnancy They were born at 33 weeks. Our little boy was 2044kg born at 5.10 pm . Our little girl 1.850kg at 5.30pm

The WFC were amazing, supportive and extremely caring. Our family is complete with a charming cheeky boy and a delightful dainty girl. Thankyou to everyone at WFC. May God bless all those that read this story with an amazing story of their own
